Opening weekend at WMMP
Driver # 47’s remarks

What did you think of your rookie debut in the Presby Environmental Late Model?
“ I feel I fared alright for my first outing. Other than making a few mistakes and almost spinning the car out I think I did okay. Going to the rear twice is way more than anyone could overcome and I feel I did my best to put it all behind and continue to race hard. I was sent to the rear on lap # 37 when I accidentally got a piece of the #7. It was very exciting driving a late model and way more fun than I ever could have imagined. The night could have been a lot worse…I’m happy I brought the #47 home in one piece. This week we are going to continue to work hard on the car and make it faster. The team and I have compiled quite the list that we need to get to work on and complete before next Saturday’s green flag at the Park."

What did you think of your rookie debut in the # 57?
“ Practice got off to a good start. The car was running smooth and all systems were a go. I was starting to feel more comfortable getting the feel of riding through traffic. In the qualifier the car started strong but it developed a little push. Our faulty air gauge is to blame for too much air pressure. I was a little over excited and I neglected to remember to ease off the throttle to compensate for the push. As a result I made contact with the # 07 (Tim Casey) and # 75 (Mike Martel). The night had its ups and downs and the feature started off a little rough when I missed the start. By then the set-up had settled in and the car was ready to turn left. I was able to get around cars that couldn’t keep up with the # 57. I was happy to settle for a 15th, but I was even happier to accomplish staying on the lead lap.”

I was happy for a safe night and to bring both cars back in one piece. One thing I really over looked was how much work it actually takes with two cars. Without the help of Uncle Joe Willey, Coal, Jourdan, and crew chief Bobby Brown the night would have been a lot longer. After talking things over with the crew we now have a master plan we are working towards. Hopefully for all you Five Pine fans you will see us make a charge very soon. I think Chan made a great comeback after a tough first qualifier. Thank goodness that’s behind us. I think he made more enemies than friends. Contact that was dished out wasn’t intentional. Brock did a super job going up against the Park’s best. We have some keen plans for the #47 just around the next corner. Again, special thanks to the crew and all the fans.
