Late Model Semi-Feature

September 2, 2006

Brock had a good run going and was being reeled in by the #38 of Tyler Cahoon.

September 2, 2006
An unfortunate bobble coming out of turn #4 got the #47 into the
#38 which ended the night for the #38. Brock was put the rear and finished 8th in the semi.

( Tyler entered the feature in Donna Cahoon's #3 and picked up 16th place points.)

Late Model Feature

September 2, 2006

The #47 started 4th in the feature and slipped to mid-pack. Brock was able
to hang on to the tight race car and finish 12th.

   Driver Remarks: (Brock)
“On Saturday night I started out on the outside pole to qualify and finished the race in second. That finish advanced me to the bonus point’s semi feature round. In the semi I was running in third with a car that was very tight in the center of the corners. The #38 car was at my outside rear quarter. I was unaware that he was there and made accidental contact with him in turn four. Unfortunately this caused him to crash into the turn one wall. It was not, or never will be my intention, to cause havoc to anyone’s racecar.
When feature time rolled around I was a little gun shy and my car was still tight and a handful to drive. I’ll settle for the 12th place finish and carry on next week. Congrats to Chan on his second feature win of this racing season!"

   Owner Remarks: (Fred)
“Welcome racing fans and do we ever have lot things to talk about this week. First off congrats to Chan on his second feature win of 06. The most fascinating thing about stock car racing is that it is never over till it is over. Anyone who saw that feature and happen to be watching the 57 probably had Chan pegged for about a fourth place finish when shebang! There he is starting on the outside pole with two to go and as Ted Wynot used to say "the rest is history."
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Brock is out there having a little to-do with the Cahoons. Now, I didn’t see the incident but I did get the pleasure of meeting most of the team shortly there after. The first one I met was the crew chief, an excitable boy with a depth in chassis set up, I surmised. I mean they do run up front most of the time with the help of someone. The second person I met was the infamous Papa who then proceeded to tell me Brock was lousy driver and was nothing more than a Super Street ............ (things I cannot quote).
During my up close and personal introduction to the Papa he also said if Brock "couldn’t choose a line he would gladly choose one for him, in the wall!!!"   Now, if I can just comment on those two statements.
First of all, Brock is the 2005 Super Street Champ. If anyone deserves to go up to the Late Models it should be the racers from the class closest to the top division with a winning season. Brock was the only Super Street driver to take most of his wins on the outside, driving there lap after lap; a feat I challenge any driver to try. Secondly, this team should look at how they are leading all the late model teams with the most accumulated cautions. I think most of all the late model drivers would agree to that along with all the fans. I truly feel that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones and racing is that kind of a house.
Finally, the most disturbing comments were the threats made at Brock. I would never threaten any driver or their family. What would you do or say if someone got hurt or killed after making those statements! Bad Form!! I truly expected to see more sportsmanship from a former champ.
To the driver of the #38; you are the one that got something you didn’t deserve and as I mentioned before, I didn't even see the incident. After the race night the big guy from the # 9 team said it appeared that our car was having some difficulty which caused you to lock your car up to prevent from taking many more to the wall.
Well that’s probably enough for one week and as we say up North, I'm over it.
P.S. I did notice after reviewing the tape that the #38 had a little trouble with the #2 during the feature, which I hope wasn’t our fault too. Good job to Russ Clark for staying in your car and showing us all what a real sport is all about."
