September 8, 2006 Friday at the Track.

September 8, 2006 September 8, 2006

Geesh! Freddy and Bobby don't get to race much anymore, right?

Wrong!

We went down to test at WMMP today and they couldn't help it.
Freddy had to race the other hauler in the parking lot and Bobby
just had to take his bike out on the track.

Things were going great until Donnie Avery showed up to check the #47 out.

It was a fun afternoon. I can't think of a better way to spend a Friday. It sure beat working!

It was especially rewarding when Donnie took the time to help us out. We listen when experience talks. Thanks.

The racing day started off special when my Brother called and said he and his wife were going to make their first visit to WMMP this year and asked if they could journey down with me; great news and I welcomed them. They showed just as I was loading the car and off we went.

John and Sue were going in the pits to help Todd Goodness and the #82 Super Street so I dropped them off at the pit gate and drove around behind the grandstands to park. I parked next to Bruce (WMMP photographer) and had to engage him in a conversation about ISOs, mega-pixels, 35mm equivalents, shutter speeds, dslrs vs slrs, and camera brands. You know, regular racing stuff. Not to my surprise, Bruce is a hell of a good guy and couples his love of of photography with a love for racing.

Thing's looked good but a 4:15 the rain came, and it came hard with thunder and lightening; not good.

At 4:50 they called the night off. And well, that sucked! But, as Freddy always says, "See you next week. I may not be prettier, but I just might be a little smartier."

* * * As many of you know Fred and Stacy Cahoon had some heated words during the 09/02/06 event. Fred made his feelings known in his comments for the night and then Stacy replied to Fred in an email. Below are Fred's comments for this weekend and the comments from Stacy. (Webmaster)

   Owner Remarks: (Fred)
Well due to the rain I have no racing news to report this week. I do however still have some things to talk about. Last week I received an e-mail from Stacy Cahoon over in Vermont replying to my comments.

"Hi Fred,

In this weeks Owner remarks, you weren't very precise in your attempt to quote me during our conversation. First off, if I may correct you, you stated you didn't see the incident yet you informed my eldest son Pat that is was not Brocks fault to which as I might have he questioned your intelligeance.

Secondly, had you done it correctly you (could have quoted anything I said). I never said Brock was a lousy driver. What I said was he should go back to the super streets "knowing" he would than remember the many times someone rode him high or even into the wall, Also I said that he needed to pic a lane and if he couldn't I'd find him one in the feature. There are many ways to deal with someone taking his share and yours too, I never mentioned the word "wall", and would never put my worst enemy there because I've survived many wall hits in my career and know how it hurts!

I'm not sure where you get the stats on cautions. I wasn't aware the track kept record of that. I sooner think it is just one more of your feeble attempts to slander me and my family, but if it is true we'll bear that load after all there are 3 of us on the track trying to compile those yellow numbers at the same time. I would say we have an unfair advantage over the rest of you trying for the same stats!

Oops! Fred, you missed another one. The 2 getting out and throwing the helmet. Of course you with all your racing etiquette would understand the heat, the adrenaline flow and the unclear thinking following being involved in a crash.

You seem to know your way around a web site better than you do racing. Maybe you could add to your web site so that people you write about could respond on your site, that way people could get the side of the person your slamming. For now I'll have to see if my buddy Big Bigelow could print my side in his Strapin Column so the people that heard you can hear me. He's riding down to the track with me tonite and camps with us most weekends. Naaahhh! I won't do that. He's a good reporter who prints only facts not what he wants to see and hear.

And Fred, the next time you speak badly of someone publicly for something they did in racing, your feet may be in their shoes someday.

Cordially, (in your words I quote the way it should be done)

The Infamous PAPA CAHOON "

Now most of you that look at our site know I had a thing or two to say about our difficulties last week. In all fairness, and with Stacy’s permission, I have posted his response. During a phone conversation tonight it became apparent that either team did not want a war. As a matter of fact we both apologized for both of our teams and the way things went down.

Any fans that are looking for a gunfight, it wont be happening. A wreck-fest would be too expensive and the brawl is history. Race to the checkers, well then you’re on. By the way, Stacy did have a nice e-mail to Brock filled with encouragement and praise.

See you next Saturday night when the Late Models fight to the finish to crown the new Champ and hopefully Chan stays in the top ten.
