Sunday was Father's Day and the guys figured this may be the only time they could convince the "significant others" that it would be OK for them to take off and go watch some racing somewhere. Young Sammy was racing his PASS modified at Unity and a plan was hatched. Freddy sweet-talked "Stewart" into chauffeuring us the 150 miles northeast to the 50 + year old 1/3 mile track named "Maine's Toughest Oval". Just behind us was Brock and Chandler in the jeep.
The pits were buzzing with activity. The PASS Super Late Models, Outlaws and Super Streets were everywhere. The sights, sounds and smells were wonderful. We found Sammy, Sam and Rosie pumped up and ready to go.
18 Modifieds were there. They ran 2 heat races and Sammy started 7th of 9 in the second one.
Sammy spun in turn 4 and contact with his left front broke the center link. He limped the #01 into the infield and had to be towed to the pits.
The SRS Racing team, with help from 5PRS and others did an incredible job getting the car repaired and ready for the feature event.
