Because of the #47's 8th place non-qualifying run it started 14th in the 18 car field.

On lap 10 Rick Thompson's #8 loss it in turn #2 and took a wild ride down the backstretch retaining wall.

Brock restarted 11th and his race to the front was on.
|
The #47 charged to 6th on lap 25 then drove under Norm Andrew's #33 and finished 4th. In hindsight Brock wished he had followed the #21 of Oren Remick when he made his move to the outside, but a 14th to 4th place finish was a hell of a run in our book.
