Ben's Grandfather, Mike Beattie, checking out the hardware.
When I think back to my first racing experiences, I remember sitting in turn 4 watching my favorite drivers mix it up on the dirt at Riverside Speedway. I can see Bobby Martin’s Lazy 8, Bobby Fortin’s #519 and Mike Beattie’s #25. Shaking Mike’s hand on Sunday transported me back to a time I cherish.

Ben Belanger and his 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. Ben is the 13 year old son of Marc and Sandy Belanger and will be starting his racing career in the 4 cylinder Daredevil Division at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH. His Father and Uncle, Aaron Belanger and Grandfather, Ray Belanger, are all helping with the build and will be crewing the new race car. We'll be watching and reporting on Ben's progress thoughout the season.

The Belanger Family has been around racing for a long time. The picture above is of Ben's Father sporting the checkers in his 1966, 396 Chevy Chevelle Street Stock, during his rookie year at Riverside Speedway. Marc went on to be a fierce Late Model and Pro Stock racer. As a matter of fact, I found one of each of those cars in the corner of their garage ready to race.
